Oracle has thrown its hat in the ring as a new contender for the US operations of TikTok. The San Francisco-based software company controlled by billionaire Larry Ellison has approached other investors, with venture capital firm Sequoia Capital said to be one of them. The move could pose a challenge to Microsoft’s talks with TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. Professor Howard Yu from the IMD Business School shared his thoughts on Oracle’s interest in TikTok.
